Review of the crypto investment platform Sensible

Sensible is an investment platform that allows users to earn up to 8% annually on Bitcoin.

The startup has received investments from Crypto VC Dragonfly and Coinbase Ventures.

The product is developed by Jacob Frantz (former Product Manager at Facebook and Instagram) and Zachary Salmon (former Director of Engineering at Walmart).

This is the team’s third product. Their first was an NFT marketplace:https://www.firstmate.xyz/ and https://www.skillissue.xyz/.

What is Sensible?

Sensible uses DeFi solutions to optimize returns, risk management, and improve the Web3 user experience.

Here’s what the platform looks like at the beginning of 2025:

Sensible’s Technology Partners

1. Morpho – a decentralized lending protocol that optimizes interest rates for borrowers and lenders. It combines liquidity pools (e.g., Compound, Aave) with peer-to-peer (P2P) mechanisms. This serves as the foundation of Sensible, enabling the redistribution of borrowed funds and ensuring the required yield.

2. Gauntlet – a risk management platform for DeFi. It uses simulations and economic models to optimize returns and enhance the stability of decentralized financial protocols.

3. 0x – an infrastructure for decentralized token exchange. It allows developers to build markets and liquidity APIs for Ethereum and other blockchain ecosystems.

4. Privy – a Web3 authentication tool that enables developers to integrate secure login methods using email, phone numbers, or crypto wallets into decentralized applications.

5. Base – an Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) scaling solution developed by Coinbase. It provides low-cost, high-speed transactions for scaling decentralized applications.

6. ZeroDev – a platform that simplifies interactions with crypto wallets and smart wallets. It enables the creation of smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps) without requiring complex integrations.

Sensible Platform Audit

The website is built on a custom engine without using popular CMS platforms.

After registration, a confirmation email is sent from Privy (by the way, this service is also backed by Coinbase Ventures).

Privy not only handles user onboarding but also manages customer wallets.

After confirming the email, users are redirected to a page where they need to enter a referral code.

An interesting feature is added here—if you don’t have a code, you can either book a call with the project’s CEO or…

…or post a Tweet, after which you will receive an invite.

Cool engagement strategy that generates organic reach (not very large, but almost free). I highly recommend this approach for attracting attention to your startup!

The text can be customized and embedded into the “Ask for the code on X” button. I would also add a referral link—if someone registers through it, you get access. This would increase the motivation to post the tweet.

From this activity alone, I found around a dozen tweets requesting an invite in the first two months of 2025.

After registration, users are immediately prompted to top up their balance, with a minimum deposit of $15. Right away, we see Coinbase integration.

The withdrawal process is just as intuitive. A simple interface is key to success.

Sensible Affiliate Program

The program works through referral links or email invitations.

Referral Conditions:

• Both the referrer and the invited user receive a 4% bonus increase for 60 days.

Downside: If you invite multiple referrals, your bonus does not stack, meaning there’s no extra incentive to bring in more people.

To improve motivation, I would suggest adding a fixed reward for each successful referral.

The referral process is straightforward: share your link with friends and receive the bonus offer.

How the Email Referral Funnel Works

You enter your friend’s email, and they receive a message with a registration link.

One improvement I’d suggest: automatically adding the email to the system after confirmation, but this might complicate the process.

Another noticeable issue is that referral emails are sent from the founder’s direct email address. This has two potential downsides:

1. The email and domain (especially the primary one) risk getting flagged or banned.

2. Inbox overload—cold outreach like this can flood the founder’s inbox, making it harder for employees to find important emails.

Sensible Platform Onboarding

Platform Onboarding

The onboarding process is managed through a sequence of email messages.

For email delivery, Sensible uses Loops—a simple and easily integrable ESP (Email Service Provider).

First Email After Registration

The first email in the onboarding sequence includes three key sections:

1. Building Trust

The email establishes credibility with a message about Sensible’s approach:

“At Sensible, we believe crypto is an investment, not a lottery ticket. We think everyday investors should have access to the same forces of compounding interest that the more sophisticated players do.”

2. Technical Simplicity

A separate section highlights the ease of integration: “Sensible connects directly with your Coinbase account – no routing info, address, or social security needed. For most people, this takes under 45 seconds (faster than reading this email!) and can be done from your phone or desktop.”

Simple onboarding is crucial—if the process is too complex, conversion rates to active users will drop.

3. Direct Contact with the Founder

The email closes with: “If you have any questions or feedback, you can reply to this email – it goes directly to me.”

However, as mentioned in the referral program analysis, this could lead to email overload, making inbox management difficult. I haven’t tested this personally, so the effectiveness of this approach is unclear.

Sensible Marketing & Promotion

The project is currently in the waitlist/MVP stage, making it interesting to observe its early growth strategies.

Sensible’s Marketing Channels:
Founders’ and team’s personal LinkedIn profiles
Twitter/X
Influencer marketing on Instagram
Platforms like Warpcast
Reddit

Promoting a DeFi Project via LinkedIn

The project is mentioned in three personal profiles and one corporate page.

Personal Profiles:

Jacob Frantz – Founder (former Product Manager at Facebook and Instagram)

Zachary Salmon – Partner

Gabe Wise – Business Development Partner

Corporate Page:

🔗 Sensible on LinkedIn

The first mentions appeared in 2024, mainly as project introductions and job postings.

Towards the end of 2024, the founders started posting about the project.

I wouldn’t call this a full-scale marketing campaign—it’s more like sharing updates within their personal network.

Promoting an IT Product on Twitter/X

Sensible’s Official Twitter/X Account in Numbers:

15 posts

The main account was revived from a previous NFT project, which helped it retain existing followers and an older registration date.

👉 If your projects are in similar niches, this approach is acceptable for reusing an account.

First Mention by the Founder on Twitter:

Support and Mentions on Partners’ Accounts

Overall, the Twitter strategy is quite low-key, but the team is actively supporting user-generated content (UGC).

Influencer Marketing for Crypto Projects

The first integration (a podcast featuring the founder of Sensible) was released at the end of 2024 on the Money Talk with Skyler Fleming profile.

As a young product, the team featured this podcast on the homepage.

I recommend this approach, but don’t forget to include an active link.

On February 14, the second integration was released on the channels of top crypto influencer Eric Pan.

Our Experience with Eric Pan & Recommendations for Influencer Marketing

We worked with Eric Pan and are familiar with his rates and effectiveness. At an integration cost of around $10K, Sensible gained:

Content for their “empty” Instagram
Mentions on Twitter/X

Our Recommendations:

1️⃣ If the budget is limited, prioritize multiple integrations with smaller influencers (under 50K followers). If the budget allows, launch a structured influencer marketing campaign from the start.

2️⃣ Let the influencer try the product—this ensures they share their personal experience rather than just promoting the platform.

3️⃣ Highlight key advantages in the integration:

Simplicity

Security & guarantees

User-friendly experience

4️⃣ More UGC (user-generated content):

• Offer early users a small bonus for video testimonials.

• Order this type of content from creators on Fiverr.

The Importance of Systematic Influencer Marketing

Unfortunately, Sensible lacks a structured influencer approach. Based on our experience:

One-off integrations can bring some users, but won’t create a steady flow or serve as a launchpad.

At least dozens of integrations are needed in the first iterations for real traction.

Promotion on Warpcast for Web3 Projects

🔗 Sensible’s Warpcast account: holdsensible.eth
📊 1.6K followers

The project engages in thematic streams, helping to attract attention. They focus on /investor and /investing discussions.

To build trust, Sensible leverages branding from its tech partners and VC investors.

I wouldn’t consider this platform as a lead generation tool. Most likely, Sensible uses it as a partnership channel since, along with targeted streams, there are also active mentions of partners in their threads.

Promoting Investment Projects on Reddit

In my marketing breakdown of the How is the DeFi project Zoth.io progressing? I already highlighted how AMA (Ask Me Anything) sessions are crucial for new projects. These sessions help you gain early followers who stay with you throughout the project’s journey.

The founder of Sensible launched a similar AMA session on Reddit, and I consider it a highly successful approach.

However, there is a downside—it requires significant effort and time, but the returns are well worth it.

The AMA session format on Reddit is a text-based Q&A with users. Be honest, address tough questions, and turn skeptics into loyal users.

The cost of Sensible’s AMA session was $300, and I believe it was a valuable experience for brand building.

What is MOON?

MOON is a token used in the r/CryptoCurrency community on Reddit. Users earn MOON for engagement (e.g., posting and commenting). These tokens can be:

Traded or stored in a wallet
Used for in-community payments
Spent on hosting AMA sessions

Growth Opportunities for Sensible

1️⃣ Systematic Influencer Marketing
• Builds trust and leverages user-generated content (UGC) to attract a new audience.
• Consistent integrations will help the product gain traction and make market entry smoother.

2️⃣ Content Marketing & SEO
• The team isn’t utilizing the huge potential of internal and external content marketing.
Organic search is one of the most reliable audience acquisition channels.

3️⃣ Paid Advertising
• The project hasn’t launched paid ads yet.
• Advertising on Meta, X (Twitter), and Reddit can drive a high-intent audience ready to become customers.

4️⃣ Community Building
• While not a top priority, a strong community increases trust and conversion rates.

5️⃣ Finding & Nurturing Brand Ambassadors
• Tied closely to influencer marketing—the best brand advocates come from converting key opinion leaders (KOLs).
